With Swansea in a precarious financial situation, the future of Daniel James is certainly a very pressing question.

When James was asked about contract talks with his current club Swansea, the 21-year-old was less than enthusiastic.

“That’s still underway,” James said when asked about Swansea contract talks.

“It’s about concentrating on the football for me.

“This time last season I wasn’t playing first-team football, but it’s something that can happen.

“If you get your opportunity you can take it and now it’s a case of ‘can I do more?’”

Leeds were set to sign James on deadline day for about €12m but the Swans pulled the plug at seemingly the last minute.

“I got back to Swansea and the fans have been great with me,” he said.

“Nothing has changed for me. It was about keep playing football and enjoying it, and that’s what I’ve been doing.”

James was the hero, scoring a goal in his international debut in Wales’ 1-0 win over Slovakia in Cardiff on Sunday.
