Sunderland owner Stewart Donald is confident the club will secure signings soon.

The Black Cats are currently the subject of a takeover bid and missed out on target Freddie Lapado, who opted to join Rotherham this week.

Donald, though, has moved to reassure fans that business will be done.

“We had a squad that finished fifth and needs to collect around ten more points than last season,” Donald tweeted.

“Any new signings are coming into a more settled environment and we probably need around six to eight players this season and we are sure to make some signings soon.

“Patient not complacent.”

Fans are concerned that Mark Campbell’s takeover efforts are delaying transfer plans but Donald clearly doesn’t consider that an issue.
