Sunderland owner, Stewert Donald was recently interviewed by Rocker Rappport’s podcast where the 45-year-old explained details that Sunderland is close to signing two defensive players this week.

“A couple of players on the desk are probably going to cost us half a million pounds if we decide they are the ones to go for,” said Donald. “We’re talking about strengthening the team with two or three more signings before the window shuts.”

Donald explained the players he is currently looking at are all defensive players and added that he hopes to make the singings official sooner rather than later.

“We’re not far away on one and that one may extend to three but it might end up being two. If you asked me now, I would hope we will sign a couple of players next week but I would certainly expect there to be one.”

Sunderland’s next match is on August 20 as they take on Rochdale in League One play.
