Sunderland are ready to sign goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos after he was released by Middlesbrough earlier this month.

The Black Cats are on the hunt for a second-choice shot-stopper after Robbin Ruiter was let go by the Wearsiders at the end of last season.

A number of replacements have been considered but the Sunderland Echo believe that Jack Ross will move for Konstantopoulos this week.

The Greece international was let go by Boro after six years this month and, with a young family in tow, is thought to be keen on staying in the north east.
