Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has knocked back an approach from Derby County to take over as their new manager.
Although his old England teammate Frank Lampard is currently in charge at Pride Park, he is expected to depart imminently.
Lampard has been chosen by former club Chelsea to take over at Stamford Bridge after Maurizio Sarri left to join Juventus.
The Times report that Gerrard was ear-marked as Lampard’s replacement but he showed no interest in taking over the Rams.
The Gers manager rebuffed Derby’s advances and turned down the chance to speak with them about potentially taking over.
That is due to the fact that he is ‘100% committed’ to his job at Ibrox and is unwilling to consider a departure at this time.
Gerrard has already been very active this summer putting plans in place for next season.
Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Steven Davis, Greg Stewart and Sheyi Ojo have all been added to his ranks for the upcoming campaign.
If Lampard does depart Derby, Gerrard and co. will get a good look at his replacement, with the Rams set to travel to Glasgow for a pre-season friendly at the end of July.
