Former Premier League greats Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard enjoyed tremendous debut seasons in management.
Lampard took Derby County to the Championship play-off final and also defeated Manchester United in the EFL Cup in a very memorable season and is now rumoured to become the next Chelsea manager.
Gerrard, meanwhile, had a brilliant campaign as he led Rangers to their first second-placed finish since 2012 and fell just shy of qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages.
In an interview with BT Sport, Lampard revealed that he knew his former team-mate would become a fantastic manager.
“I can speak mainly for myself, and I know Steven pretty well because we spent a lot of the year quite close in the media and we spoke about it a fair bit.
“It was a burning desire in us both. We are football people, and I think when you’re competitive and you’ve done it as a player, there are many options of a simpler life after football.
“But if you have a burning desire, and you’ve played at a high level, and you feel that you want to achieve something anywhere near that as a manager, you go into it.”
