Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is set for a transfer summit with owner Mike Ashley to discuss their January plans, he has revealed.
The need for reinforcements has only increased in recent weeks as the injuries pile up on Tyneside.
While Bruce was insistent that the unfortunate health situation hadn’t intensified the need for signings, he is hopeful of deals being done.
“I’m meeting up with the owner in the next couple of days, that’s already planned,” Bruce told the assembled media.
“As I’ve said all along, if there’s someone that can make us better and they are available, I’ll ask the owner of course.
“He was very supportive in the summer and has been very supportive all along so let’s see what we can get.
“I’ve said all along that we won’t just bring players in for the sake of it.
“Most of our injured players will be back in two or three weeks so anyone coming in would have to improve us.
“That is the conversation I will have over the next couple of days.”
It won’t just be about arrivals this month though with the Chronicle reporting that Henri Saivet, Jamie Sterry and Ki Sung-yueng are all likely to move on.
