Raheem Sterling is reportedly eyeing a €125,000-a-week pay rise at Manchester City as talks continue over a new contract.

Sterling has two years remaining on his current deal and is seen as one of the club’s most valuable assets, but wants City to materialise their desire to keep him.

According to the Times, the 23-year-old is not looking for wage parity with Kevin de Bruyne despite strong rumours indicating so.

Sterling’s current deal at the Etihad Stadium sees him earn a basic wage of €200,000-a-week.

Should the club meet his demands, Sterling would surpass Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku and would sit sixth in the list of best earning Premier League stars behind the likes of De Bruyne, Paul Pogba, Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez.

City’s wage bill has increased by €65m since Pep Guardiola was appointed, but the club are still paying their players less than rivals Manchester United who last season spent €270m.
