Experienced defender Stephan Lichsteiner is not sure when a proposed move to Arsenal will go through.

The 34-year-old is about to leave Juventus after eight seasons with the club and is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to north London.

However, it may not be concluded before the World Cup.

“I can’t say anything about that,” Lichtsteiner told reporters as he prepared for Switzerland’s friendly against Spain, which takes place on Sunday.

“Nothing is finished.”

When asked if a move would be sealed before the World Cup, the right-back simply said he didn’t know.

According to reports from Italy, Lichsteiner has agreed a one-year deal with the Gunners, though the club may have an option to extend his deal by a further year.

Arsenal have targeted him as a backup for right-back Héctor Bellerín.
