Tottenham looked into the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa this summer.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Spurs viewed Kurzawa as a possible replacement for Danny Rose.

The Ligue 1 champions were reportedly willing to sell the Frenchman for approximately €15m but it seems the move failed to materialise due to the Premier League club’s inability to offload Rose.

The England defender was expected to leave the north London club this summer and could still do so before the European transfer window closes later this month.

After the club’s official website confirmed that the 29-year-old had been left off the pre-season tour of Asia “in order to explore prospective opportunities with other clubs”, Rose reportedly came close to making a deadline day move to Watford.

However, he now looks set to stay at Spurs and will compete with new signing Ryan Sessegnon for a starting berth.

With Sessegnon and Ben Davies both currently injured, Rose played the full 90 minutes of last weekend’s season opener against Aston Villa and is likely to do the same again away at Manchester City on Saturday.

The former Leeds man is under contract until June 2021 and if he is to leave Spurs, he may now have to wait until January at the earliest.
