Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca has been lighting it up on loan with Serie B side Ascoli this season, to the tune of 11 goals in just 25 appearances in all competitions – a rate of a goal every 160 minutes.
Scamacca’s performances have many thinking he’s Italy’s next top talent, so it’s little wonder why the U-21 international has garnered attention from big clubs over the world.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Southampton, Milan, and Benfica are all interested in the centre-forward, with the Saints reported to have previously sent scouts to view the 21-year-old talent.
Scamacca has been a part of Italy’s youth set-up at every level since the U-15s, earning 75 youth caps to date while scoring an impressive 31 goals.
More recently, Scamacca has scored four goals in eight matches at the U-21 level, contributing a goal or an assist in four of Italy’s five Euro U-21 qualifying matches thus far.
