Southampton have made it clear to Galatasaray that they will only accept a permanent deal for Mario Lemina if he leaves at the end of the season.

The former Juventus man is currently on loan in Turkey, where has established himself as an important player after a difficult start.

Turkish outlet Fotomac report that Gala boss Fatih Terim has been very impressed with Lemina and has made it clear to his board that he wants the player to remain next season.

Lemina is not part of Ralph Hasenhüttl’s long-term plans at St Mary’s and he is happy to let the midfielder leave.

However, the Saints hierarchy have made it clear to Galatasaray that they will not simply allow the 26-year-old to depart on another loan deal next season.

They are demanding that Lemina’s €16 million release clause is paid in full if they agree to let him join the Cimbom beyond his current deal.

That fee looks to be outside Galatasaray’s price range given their current financial difficulties.

The Gabon international does still have another two years remaining on his contract with Southampton, which is up in the summer of 2022.
