Remember Guido Carrillo? It might surprise you to learn that he’s technically still a Southampton player.

Carrillo was brought to St Mary’s by Mauricio Pellegrino in a deal worth a whopping £19.8m back in January 2018.

But less than two months later, Pellegrino was given his marching orders and Carrillo quickly found himself surplus to requirements.

After just 10 appearances and no goals for the Saints, Carrillo joined Pellegrino on loan at Leganes in the summer of 2018 and the Argentine has remained there ever since.

But Pellegrino was sacked by the LaLiga outfit in the October of last year and Carrillo wants again finds himself out in the cold.

The 28-year-old has failed to score a goal this season and the chances of Leganes turning his loan move into a permanent deal at the end of the season are now looking extremely unlikely.

But Sport Witness report that Argentine radio station Radio del Plata that Mexican side Cruz Azul might be interested in signing the forward.

If a deal can be done in January then the Premier League strugglers would no doubt be keen to cut their losses on a player who has been an unmitigated flop.

But they will almost certainly get nowhere near the kind of transfer fee they shelled out when they signed him from Monaco almost two years ago.
