Sergio Ramos has issued a rallying cry in the wake of Real Madrid’s untimely 1-0 defeat at Levante.

Los Blancos dominated proceedings at the Ciutat de Valencia, enjoying 63% possession and landing seven shots on target compared to the hosts’ total of two.

But Real paid for their profligacy when Levante’s left-winger José Luis Morales flashed an effort past goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at his near post to consign Zinedine Zidane’s men to just their second defeat of the season.

Ramos took to Twitter to call on team-mates and fans to forget about Saturday’s setback and focus all their efforts on Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Manchester City.

The club captain posted: “We’re pissed off, but we can’t allow our heads to drop. We have to reset now and tomorrow push harder than ever before for a very important week. We’re counting on you.#HalaMadrid”

The defeat means Real slip to second in La Liga with Barcelona at the summit following their 5-0 destruction of Eibar.

They will be hoping for a positive reaction when Pep Guardiola brings his two-time Premier League champions to the Bernabeu.
