With Arturo Vidal having already arrived and Paul Pogba consistently rumoured with a move, it looks as if Sergi Samper’s time at Barcelona could be coming to an end.

The young midfielder, once touted as Xavi’s heir at Camp Nou, has struggled to establish himself in the first team over recent seasons, and has never been able to maintain fitness during his senior career.

As such, coach Ernesto Valverde has already told the 23-year-old that he’s surplus to requirements this coming campaign and is free to look for another club.

One of the teams most interested in landing the Masia graduate, at least according to Gazzetta dello Sport, is Sampdoria.

The Italian outfit have made contact with Barça over a potential move, and look set to lodge an initial bid of €10m.

The Blaugrana value Samper at somewhere closer to €25m, but Gazzetta insist that a deal can be done before their respective transfer windows shut later in the month.
