Young Uruguayan centre-back Sebastián Cáceres is set to soon make his América debut after his return from the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, where Uruguay failed to qualify by a single point.
The 20-year-old, who signed from Liverpool (URU) for $2.5m over the winter break, is easily one of Uruguay’s most promising prospects and brings his talents to América hoping to soon earn a European move.
In a recent interview, Cáceres revealed that América were not the only Liga MX side interested in his services, as Pachuca also attempted to poach him from Uruguay.
“Yes, we were talking (with people from Pachuca), but I thought there was no comparison. When choosing between America and Pachuca, I thought the opportunity to grow was going to be better here.“
América travel to face Rayados this weekend and could jump into first place with a win if Pumas fail to defeat Monarcas.
