Schalke in talks with Tottenham to sign Danny Rose

This is a slightly strange one.

Schalke are in talks to sign Tottenham and England left-back Danny Rose on loan.

The defender has been tipped with a move away and linked with Manchester City and Manchester United but this one has taken us slightly by surprise.

Rose, who turned 28 last month, could be set for a temporary switch to the Bundesliga should Spurs decide to do a deal, with Schalke also able to offer Champions League football.

However, Tottenham are yet to make a summer signing and would seemingly not wish to weaken their side when the priority is to strengthen.

The north London club have done business with Schalke in recent years when former duo Nabil Bentaleb and Benjamin Stambouli both left for the German side in 2016.
