While, despite a number of long-term injuries this season, América boasts one of the better attacks in Liga MX.

As América continues preparing for the Liguilla, where they will enter anywhere from a three to a six seed, chairman Santiago Baños admitted that the club missed out on a potentially big signing on deadline day.

“The signing of a defender fell apart because we could not conclude the negotiation on time and the market closed.

“This is the reason why the squad seemed to fall short on the defensive side.”

Surely the club will learn their lesson and opt to sign at least one new centre-back and one new wing-back ahead of the 2020 Clausura campaign.
