However, the Bayern striker will be enjoying his summer holidays and supporting his colleagues as they kick off at the Luzhniki Stadium.

“I’ll stop my holiday and cross my fingers the minute they kick off against Mexico on Sunday,” Wagner told SportBild.

“I’m proud to have been a part of this team and I wish you all the best in the coming weeks. Go and get the Cup. For everyone there and us Germans at home.”

“Despite what happened I would definitely do it all again. Even if I’ll be supporting them from the kitchen table instead of the opposition penalty box!”
