Real Madrid’s hunt for a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement has been on going throughout the summer.
When the news broke that the Ballon d’Or winner was going to be leaving Los Blancos after nine years, thoughts immediately turned to who would be filling his considerable shoes.
Well, according to a story in El Pais overnight, the hierarchy at Santiago Bernabèu were exactly the same, and took their chequebooks to England at the start of August to ask after two players.
They claim that the reigning European champions were ready to go big for one of Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane in the hope of replacing Ronnie’s goals and appeasing the fans.
Both though, rejected their advances outright.
Although no bids were formally lodged by Real Madrid, it’s believed that neither player was especially keen on replacing Ronaldo in the Spanish capital.
So as yet, Florentino Perez will have to make do with Vinicius Junior.
