After signing from São Paulo last January, Rodrigo Caio could have never imagined the incredible success he would have at Flamengo.

While the Olympic gold medal-winning centre-back came from a less-than-ideal season with his former club, he became an integral part of a side that won five trophies in a span of 95 days.

With Flamengo and nearly the rest of world football on hiatus, the 26-year-old took the time to talk to FlaTV about the joy he is currently experiencing wearing the red and black.

“Without a doubt, this is a wonderful time for me. I have the opportunity to feel the thrill of playing at the Maracanã. I feel very honoured to wear the Flamengo shirt.

“Whenever I have entered the pitch, I have done my best. The achievements speak for themselves.

“Being able to win a Libertadores and a Brasileirão practically at the same time shows that everything was worth it. Few people know how hard we had to work for it.

“I think this is the key. That was the final realisation. Look back and see everything we went through.”

His incredible performances led to a recall back to the Brazilian national team in October for just the second time in the last two years.
