Vinícius Júnior has been gifted playing time under Santiago Solari and impressed against Viktoria Plzeň, assisting Toni Kroos’ goal just five minutes after coming on.

The 18-year-old starlet joined Real Madrid from Flamengo for a Brazilian-record €46m over the summer and Roberto Carlos believes he’s just getting started.

“I always hope that the Brazilian players that come to Europe are among the best,” said Roberto Carlos.

“Vinícius is very young and left Flamengo already with a lot of experience. It was great for him to play against Plzen. He will make history in Real Madrid and in world football.

“He is a modern player, able to dribble, responsible, consistent and complete.”

His agent also believes the youngster is on the rise.

“If they build up his confidence and have faith in him, there’ll be no stopping Vini,” Federico Pena told AS.

“Any player who wants to do well at a club like Real Madrid needs to be able to handle all of the pressure he’s under right now – and more.

“He’s put in some excellent performances. He’s not afraid of anything and his strong will helps him deal with any situation.

“Everything’s happening very quickly for him.”
