Robert Lewandowski is a goalscoring phenomenon but the Pole recognises that even he needs help sometimes.

Lewandowski has started the season in typically excellent form, scoring 11 goals in Bayern’s 11 Bundesliga matches so far.

But the 29-year-old feels that he is being relied upon too much at the Allianz Arena.

“It would definitely be an option [for the club] to sign a hungry, young striker who wants to learn from an experienced player,” he explained to SportBild.

“It would be a relief for me to play 15 or 20 minutes less in a game, then you have more energy for the next games and a higher probability of staying fit and minimising the risk of injuries.”

Thomas Müller is currently the only other recognised striker in the Bayern squad and the German is not a classic number nine in Lewandowski’s mould.

At 29, Lewandowski is certainly not old but it would be wise for him to lessen his playing burden if he wants to extend his career well into his 30s.
