Riyad Mahrez weighs in on Mohamed Salah comparisons | OneFootball

Being likened to Mohamed Salah is quite the honour and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez has welcomed comparisons between the pair.

Both men are dangerous wingers of north African descent and were back-to-back winners of the PFA Player of the Year award.

With each also possessing a deadly left foot, comparing the duo is understandable but it isn’t something Mahrez is worried about.

“I’m not bothered all with the comparisons,” he told Al Kass, quoted by the MEN.

“I hadn’t known him well before he came to the Premier League but the two seasons he has had here have been exceptional.

“He deserves everything he has achieved. But regarding the comparisons, I don’t follow much that goes on the internet.

“There are several Arab players playing for big clubs and it is normal that they get compared to each other.

“For me, that is a good thing and I hope to see more Arab players in Europe.”

Mahrez enjoyed a fine debut season at the Etihad Stadium, winning every major domestic trophy with an unprecedented treble.

He will do battle with Salah this summer at the African Cup of Nations, where his Algeria side will hope to beat Egypt to the crown.
