Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has defended record signing Joelinton after another mediocre display in Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Joelinton took just three touches – out of a possible 37 – in the Gunners’ penalty box as his long wait for a Premier League goal continues.
The 22-year-old has scored once in 26 appearances this term but despite widespread criticism, Bruce believes some patience is required.
“In the opposition box? Really? Seems a strange stat,” Bruce responded.
