The summer has barely even begun yet Real Madrid have already been getting very busy in the transfer market.

Having hitherto dropped circa €250m on the signings of Eden Hazard, Luka Jović, Rodrygo and Éder Militão in recent weeks, Zinedine Zidane already has a vastly improved squad to work with next summer.

And it looks like Los Blancos president Florentino Pérez will soon be getting his chequebook out again because Marca report on Monday that Ferland Mendy will complete his move to the Bernabéu after the international window.

Madrid have had a deal in place with Lyon for the transfer of Mendy for over a week but he is currently on international duty with France and has therefore been unable to undergo a medical in the Spanish capital and complete the necessary paperwork.

France take on Andorra in a qualifier for Euro 2020 on Monday evening and once that’s out of the way, the 24-year-old will be free to finalise his switch to Madrid.

Mendy was a half-time substitute as Les Bleus suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Turkey on Saturday.

The left-back made 44 appearances for Lyon last season, scoring three goals.
