James Rodríguez looks set to stay at Real Madrid this summer after all.

Having spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich, James was expected to leave the Bernabeu permanently this summer, with the likes of Napoli and Atlético Madrid heavily linked with the Colombian.

But on Thursday, Spanish outlet Deportes Cope reported that the 28-year-old’s situation has now changed and he is no longer transfer listed.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was reportedly hoping to sell both James and Gareth Bale in order to fund a move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba this summer.

But with the LaLiga club unable to meet United’s €180m valuation of Pogba, it looks like all three players will now end up staying put.

Bale played 30 minutes of last weekend’s friendly against Roma, whereas James was not involved.

But the former Monaco and Porto midfielder is now expected to be named in the squad for Saturday’s LaLiga opener against Celta Vigo.

James joined Los Blancos following his impressive exploits at the 2014 World Cup and his record currently stands at 36 goals and 40 assists in 111 games for the club.

Last season he managed seven goals and six assists as he helped Bayern to the Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal, but the German giants eventually decided not to take up the option of signing him on a permanent deal.
