Real Madrid are about to make their first signing of the January transfer window, capturing Valencia forward Rafa Mir.

The 20-year-old has made just two top flight appearances and has not featured in LaLiga this year.

However, he has scored 15 goals in 19 appearances for this season for Valencia Mestalla, the club’s second team.

Like Real Madrid Castilla, who Mir will join up with, they play in Spain’s third flight.

The two clubs had already reached an agreement for the move in the summer but Marca say it was vetoed by the Valencia president, Anil Murthy.

Now things are back on track and Mir seems to have played his last game for Valencia.

The striker should be a valuable addition to Real Madrid Castilla: so far this season, they are seventh in Segunda División B (Group I) despite having the third best defensive record. With Mir’s goals, promotion could be in sight.
