Real Madrid have sent doctors to check on River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacio after the young midfielder broke his leg.
Palacio fractured his fibula last week in River’s 2-0 win over Racing with the severity of the injury yet to be determined.
The 20-year-old has been on Los Blancos’ radar for months and had looked close to joining the Spanish giants in the summer.
That move eventually fell through with Madrid deciding it was better for Palacios’ development if he stayed in Argentina a while longer.
And now it’s been confirmed by Marca that the reigning European champions sent some of their medical department over to Buenos Aires to check up on the youngster.
It’s yet to be revealed whether the Albiceleste international is to require surgery – but if so, he could be out for up to nine months.
If that were the case, it would put the Kibosh on Madrid’s plans to make another move for his services come the end of this season.
