Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has left Cristiano Ronaldo and Keylor Navas off the team sheet, while Gareth Bale starts on the bench for Wednesday’s La Liga tie at Leganés.
Despite being embarrassingly eliminated from the Copa del Rey last month at the hands of Leganés, Zidane has elected to play a side that sees Ronaldo and Navas take the night off.
Toni Kroos (knee), Marcelo (hamstring), and Luka Modrić (hamstring) also miss the match, as all three attempt to regain full fitness ahead of Madrid’s Champions League round-of-16 second leg tie at Paris Saint-Germain on March 6.
Here are the two starting lineups in full:
Leganés have failed to score in their last three La Liga contests, while Real Madrid have failed to keep a single clean sheet in their last eight La Liga matches – their worst run since August 2013 (eight).
Leganés haven’t beaten Real Madrid in La Liga play, losing both contests last season by scores of 3-0 and 2-4.
