Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez insists he does not need to sign a new striker, because Karim Benzema “is the best centre forward in the world”.
The Frenchman has enjoyed a return to form under Santiago Solari, scoring six goals in his last six games.
Harry Kane, Edinson Cavani and Luka Jović have all been linked with Los Blancos, but Pérez believes there is no need to replace his frontman.
“We will not spend for the sake of spending,” he told France Football.
“For years I have read that Madrid needed to sign a number nine, when in reality Karim Benzema is the best centre-forward in the world.
“What we have done is sign very young players who will be stars of the future, like Vinícius and Rodrygo.
“Our objective is to be the best. This club must live up to its history.”
Real Madrid face Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday, before hosting Girona in LaLiga on Sunday.
