Real Madrid have reportedly labelled Gareth Bale’s “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order” flag celebration “a joke in very bad taste”.

Bale helped Wales qualify for Euro 2020 last night as Ryan Giggs’s side beat Hungary 2-0 in Cardiff.

It’s only the second time since 1958 that Wales have qualified for a major tournament so naturally celebrations were wild post-game.

But Real Madrid believe that Bale’s exuberance after the final whistle overstepped the mark, after he was seen posing with a banner that made reference to something Predrag Mijatović said last month.

ESPN have claimed that those in the corridors of power at Santiago Bernabéu are unimpressed by Bale’s conduct but will not look to make a further issue out of it.

Members of the squad are said to have found the celebration funny but there are concerns that this could irreparably damage his reputation with the Madrid fans.
