Real Madrid are set to meet with the agent of Porto defender Éder Militão ahead of a summer transfer.

Militão only joined the Liga NOS outfit in a €4m switch from São Paulo last summer, but the 20-year-old has made a big splash in Europe, and Manchester United scouts are reported to have watched him on a number of occasions while José Mourinho was still in charge of the club.

The central defender’s contract currently contains a €50m release clause but Goal claim Madrid are hoping to secure his signature before he signs a new contract and that figure increases.

In any event, Porto do not want to lose one of their best players in January and therefore he will not be leaving until the summer at the earliest.

Militão – who can also play as a defensive midfielder – came through the ranks at São Paulo and made 37 senior appearances for the club before leaving in August 2018.

He has so far played 22 games for Porto and already been named Primeira Liga Defender of the Month on three separate occasions this season.

He made his senior debut for Brazil in a friendly against El Salvador last September, and so far has just one cap to his name.

Given Mourinho’s apparent admiration for the player, this news perhaps further fuels rumours that the Portuguese tactician could soon be heading back to the Bernabéu dugout.
