Real Madrid have reportedly identified Athletic Club goalkeeper Unai Simon as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois.

The 22-year-old has usurped Iago Herrerin as first choice at San Mamés and is said to have a €50m release clause in his current deal.

Alphonse Areola – who was brought to Madrid as part of the Navas deal – will return to PSG at the end of the season.

Tottenham have also expressed an interest following the injury and decline of Hugo Lloris.
