Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has been ruled out for ‘two to three weeks’ with a muscular injury.

Carvajal attempted to play through the pain in Bavaria, however, he lasted only a couple of minutes and was subsequently withdrawn.

Lucas Vázquez did well as a utility right back late on but it’s likely he’ll be as disciplined over the full 90 minutes in the second leg.

Carvajal was suspended for the first leg against Paris Saint-Germain and Nacho Fernández deputised on that occasion, although he is currently injured as well.

This leaves 19-year-old Achraf Hakimi as the only natural right-back, and whilst the Moroccan impressed in parts during his run in the senior team, Ribéry would certainly target him.

There is also the small matter of David Alaba likely being fit enough to play in the second leg, and this dual threat will ensure Los Blancos’ right side will need to be reinforced.
