Real Madrid are reportedly ready to make a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and could get their man for as little as €30m.

Werner has been one of the most in-form forwards in Europe this season, netting 23 goals in all competitions and earning admiring glances from the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

However, according to Sky Germany, it’s Los Blancos who are leading the race to land Werner and his signing could be one of the bargains of the season.

In order to keep him at RB Leipzig for an extra year, the 23-year-old penned a contract extension last summer that included what can only be described as a nominal release clause.

That release clause, although not official, is thought to be €50m for clubs in the Bundesliga and the Premier League, and €30m for everyone else.

Leipzig figured they could cut their losses if Werner stayed for the 2019/20 campaign and fire them to title glory come May.

So far, as they lord it up from the top of the table, that seems to be proving true.

Real Madrid, despite already having Karim Benzema and Luka Jović in their squad, are thought to be in the market for another striker as they are preparing for life without the ageing Frenchman and are willing to let the Serbia international leave after a disappointing 12 months.

Werner it seems will have his pick of clubs and has previously admitted to harbouring an ambition to play in the Premier League.

Could the lure of Santiago Bernabéu prove too much though?
