Marcelo has been given carte blanche to decide his own future at Real Madrid with Ferland Mendy set to be confirmed as joining in the coming weeks.
The left-back has been heavily linked with Juventus over the last year but won his place back under Zinedine Zidane.
However, his Madrid future remains in doubt.
Mendy is expected to join from Lyon for €50m next week and is likely to go straight into Zidane’s XI as first choice left-back.
It means that Marcelo, who has been with Los Blancos for over a decade, could have to contend with a regular place on the substitutes bench for the first time in his career.
As such, Marca say that the club have allowed the Brazilian to make his own mind up about the next step in his career.
Should he want to move for more regular first team football, they will allow him to do so, with Juventus possibly still interested.
However Marca believe that, with Marcelo’s son playing in the Real Madrid youth team, that the veteran defender will likely decide to remain for 2019/20.
