Despite making 27 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions last season, midfielder Carles Aleñá has found himself out-of-favour under Ernesto Valverde in the current campaign.

Despite being denied a loan move to Real Betis this summer, Aleñá has made just a single 45-minute appearance, which came in their LaLiga opener against Athletic Bilbao.

Now, with William Carvalho set to miss a few months due to an operation on a herniated disc, Betis is set to go back in for Aleñá in January.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Betis will reinforce their squad with a pair of central midfielders, and Aleñá is considered to be their top target.

Guido Rodríguez (Club América), Iván Marcone (Boca Juniors), Gustavo Cuéllar (Al-Halil), and Emre Can have also been linked as potential Carvalho replacements.
