RB Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff has all but admitted that Timo Werner will leave the club in the summer.

The Germany striker has been heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Speaking at half-time of Leipzig’s win over Wolfsburg on Saturday, Mintzlaff all but confirmed Werner will be sold.

“It’s well known that we want to extend with him, but he’s signalled to us that he doesn’t want to sign a new contract,” Mintzlaff told Sky Sports.

“We need to see what’s right for us and for Timo.”

Leipzig do not want to lose the 23-year-old for nothing and, with his contract expiring in 2020, that means they will have to sell him this summer.

As well as Bayern Munich, Werner has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

It is Bayern, though, who remain the frontrunners for his signature.

Werner scored the second goal in Leipzig’s 2-0 win on Saturday and is now on 14 Bundesliga goals for the season.
