Raul Sanllehi speaks for first time after succeeding Ivan Gazidis

Sanllehi has been appointed ‘head of football’ to help mitigate the loss of Gazidis, who is leaving for Italian giants AC Milan.

Vinai Venkatesham will work alongside the 49-year-old as ‘managing director’ – conducting his work on a less sporting and more commercial level.

“I’m going through mixed emotions,” he told the club’s official website.

“Sad that Ivan has left but happy and excited about the future. I’m proud that the club has placed its trust in me.

“I am happy to work alongside Vinai as well. By no means it’s going to be two organisations.

“It will be one with two leaders, with two dimensions [sport and business] and we will be working to align them. Things are going to work out.”
