Wolves’ weekend win over Watford will have been a little bit more special – particularly for striker Raúl Jiménez.

He scored the opening goal as his side won 2-1 against the team who broke their hearts earlier this month in the FA Cup semi-final.

In that game at Wembley, the Mexican forward was criticised by Watford’s Troy Deeney for his mask-wearing celebration after scoring.

Jiménez was branded a “loser” after the game by the Hornets captain, who doubled down on those comments in his pre-game programme notes on Saturday.

“I’ve heard everything he said and it is no problem for me, that is football,” said Jiménez, as quoted by the Express and Star.

“When you score, you can do whatever you want. I just did it. It is something from Mexico and I’m happy about it.

“I was in the right place to score again. I had one chance but I had my revenge and I scored. I even brought the mask again.

“I don’t know why but the people on the bench didn’t give it to me. They didn’t remember. I hadn’t scored since the last game against Watford.

“That is why I hadn’t used the mask again since.”

Sorry, Troy. It looks like the mask is here to stay.
