It seems that every week, Chivas manager Tomás Boy edges closer and closer to what seems like his imminent dismissal, which seems more than likely if Chivas fail to earn all three points against Clásico Tapatío rivals.

Chivas have not won since their 10 August victory over newly-promoted Atlético San Luis and find themselves in 15th place in the Apertura table, four points behind a possible Liguilla spot.

Furthermore, Chivas are still in the middle of a relegation battle, with only Veracruz beneath them in the relegation table.

With rumours of Boy’s exit swirling around, goalkeeper Raul Gudiño, who has been relegated to a backup role this season, defended the manager and claims the dressing room has his full support.

“I think the manager’s position at Chivas is always going to be in danger. Right now we are with Tomás, we are 100 percent with him.

“Whoever the manager is, however we are doing, we must be supporting them.”

Of course, Atlas is right in the thick of the relegation battle as well, and Gudiño knows a victory in the Clásico will do a lot to ease the tension surrounding the club.

“I think it would generate a bit of tranquility, it will generates a bit of stability in every way.

“But we know that our goal is not a single game, for us the goal is the championship. We must fight for it.”
