The in-form striker, who has scored nine goals in 21 La Liga appearances this season while on loan from Los Blancos, confirmed he will be a Real Madrid player at the end of the campaign.

However, he has left the door open for a summer switch.

“It’s a bit too early to talk about my future given that June is still so far away,” de Tomás told beIN SPORTS.

“The only thing I can say is that I have to go back to Real Madrid because I’m under contract and that’s something I have to respect.

“Once I’m there, we’ll see what happens.”

The Real Madrid academy graduate has scored an astonishing 33 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions in his two seasons on loan at Rayo.

Real Madrid have, at times, lacked a finishing touch, but de Tomás was quick to call Karim Benzema the best in the world.

“Madrid produce so many chances, Benzema is the world’s best striker, I’ve always said that.

“Whoever doubts Benzema is doubting football itself, you just can’t find a striker like him capable of combining with his teammates, creating chances and deliver assists.”

The striker has made just one first-team appearance with Real Madrid – a 14-minute cameo during Real Madrid’s 4-1 away victory in the Copa del Rey against UE Cornellà back in October 2014.

Raúl de Tomás is under contract at Madrid until 2023.
