Rangers have been showing interest in 19-year-old Chelsea defensive midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has excelled on loan at Championship side Charlton Athletic.

With Gallagher starting nearly every match this season and scoring six goals and adding three assists, the 19th-placed Addicks are desperate to hold onto one of their better players amid a relegation fight.

Despite going out on a year-long loan, Chelsea have a recall clause and Football London are reporting that the Blues are planning on bringing him back to the club.

However, it’s not expected that the Blues will hold onto him, but rather to send him out to face a bigger challenge.

QPR, Swansea, West Brom, Millwall, and Rangers are all said to be keen on landing him for the second half of the season, though it doesn’t seem logical that they would recall the player just to send him out to another Championship outfit.

There are also reports that Premier League sides Burnley and Norwich have previously attempted to loan the player with an obligation to buy, but Chelsea turned down their requests.

This is the England U-21 international’s first season of professional football. Gallagher was also a part of England’s 2017 U-17 World Cup-winning squad and has previously been named Chelsea Academy Player of the Year.
