Southampton are heading back home after a week training in Austria.
New signings Che Adams got off the mark against SCR Altach on Sunday but the Saints were held to a 1-1 draw by their opponents.
Nonetheless, manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is more than satisfied.
“It was a perfect week, I think,” he told the Southern Daily Echo.
“We had fantastic facilities here, the weather was ok, the guys worked very hard and it was a very good atmosphere. Also with the last test against Altach, I’m happy.
“It was the test we expected, after these hard training sessions, after this hard week, against an opponent who is one week from the start [of their season].
“It was a tough game. They showed they can also play good football.
“It was an intense week, but finally at the end of it I have seen a few good things and a few things I didn’t like, so it was exactly the test I wanted, and with no injuries, so it was good.”
Southampton have made a number of signings this summer and Hasenhüttl would’ve been thrilled to see Adams of f he mark for the club.
With the Premier League season now under four weeks away, the Saints still have a trip to China to come before domestic football returns.
Such a long trip doesn’t, though, concern the boss too much.
“We have another topic now this week, and time to work. We have the China trip, so there is a little bit of travelling next week, but it’s ok.”
