Another season, another Champions League knockout tie and another PSG injury crisis.

The French giants have no luck when it comes to the eve of the first European showdowns of the year.

On Saturday, Edinson Cavani went down holding his thigh after scoring a penalty, which proved to be the winner against Bordeaux, and is a doubt for Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It comes as a major blow as PSG are already without Neymar while Marco Verratti is lacking match sharpness having just returned from an ankle problem.

In 2016, the Italian and Javier Pastore missed the second leg at Manchester City as the French giants lost 1-0 and were eliminated.

A year later, captain Thiago Silva was absent for the first leg against Barcelona.

Last season, Neymar, like this campaign, was unavailable for the second leg against Real Madrid who went on to beat Liverpool in the final.

Perhaps the Ligue 1 leaders should have a three-month long winter break to improve their chances of having a fully fit squad.
