PSG to punish Neymar for unauthorised training absence

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Neymar was absent from training on Monday despite being summoned by the club.

Neymar was ruled out of this summer’s Copa América after injuring ankle ligaments, but attended the final in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

However, with PSG gathering their first-team squad for pre-season training, the Brazilian did not attend when expected to.

An official statement read: “This Monday, July 8, Neymar da Silva Santos Junior was summoned for the resumption of activities of the professional group of Paris Saint-Germain.

“Paris Saint-Germain found that the player Neymar Jr did not show up at the agreed time and place, without having been authorised by the club in advance.

“Paris Saint-Germain deplores this situation and will take the appropriate measures resulting from it.”

It remains unclear how the Ligue 1 champions will sanction Neymar.
