Portland Timbers are on the search for Alvas Powell’s replacement and are looking at a huge name out of Argentina.
According to an interview on Argentine radio station ClossAM590, Portland are interested in Boca Juniors right-back Leonardo Jara.
La Liga’s Leganés and Liga MX sides are also reportedly in the mix.
It was just announced that Boca Juniors sold another one of their right-backs, Gino Peruzzi, to fellow Superliga side San Lorenzo for €700,000 after they couldn’t come to an agreement over Jara.
Last month, Portland sold Powell to Major League Soccer’s expansion franchise FC Cincinnati for $250,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) while retaining a percentage of his transfer fee should Powell be sold outside of MLS.
Jara has been a huge component of the Boca Juniors squad, making 71 appearances for the club after his €1m move from Estudiantes in January 2016.
Jara also has the ability to play in the midfield as well.
