Piqué ‘signs’ for Augsburg thanks to Onefootball

When Gerard Pique tweeted his Bundesliga season preview with the Onefootball Season Predictor he didn't expect to be offered a place at FC Augsburg.

Everyone has their own thoughts on the new season and everyone thinks they can predict who will win the league and who will get relegated, even the top stars! Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Piqué was no exception.

Using the Onefootball Season Predictor, Piqué made his predictions for both the Bundesliga and the Premier League last week. Whilst he made the obvious choices for the champions of each league – Bayern Munich and Manchester United (his former club) – the Internet erupted when he picked FC Augsburg as the surprise choice in the Bundesliga.

Augsburg enjoyed a superb season last year finishing an astonishing 5th. Considering they’ve only been a Bundesliga club since 2011 and were in the fourth tier back in 2002 this is quite some story!

Augsburg even have a tongue-in-cheek hashtag (#KeineSau) referencing the fact no one knew who they were until recently. Gerard Piqué predicted an improvement on last season and FC Augsburg promise to deliver.

Wishing them luck on their first ever European campaign, perhaps Augsburg could be a future destination for the Spaniard – Augsburg manager and German legend Stefan Reuter seems to hope so!

Gerard Pique ‘signs’ for Augsburg!

From Piqué predicting the 2015/16 season using the Onefootball Season Predictor, social media blew up with the likes of Bild,, L’Equipe, Mondo Deportivo, Sport1, Kicker, Bravo and many more all writing articles on Piqué’s Augsburg prediction.

So, thanks to Onefootball Piqué and Augsburg may just be a match made in heaven. Should Barcelona be worried? Can you see the Barcelona defender heading to the Bavarian club anytime soon?
