A little less than five months out of football, former Middlesbrough, Reading, and Bolton defender Andrew Taylor is set to begin his first coaching role.
According to the Northern Echo, Taylor is set to join the Sunderland coaching staff under Phil Parkinson, who he played for at Bolton.
While the two were together, Taylor held a leadership role at the club as their PFA representative during the trying spell while players performed without being paid for several months.
Taylor will become the fourth coach to join Parkinson following assistant manager Steve Parkin, goalkeeper coach Lee Butler, and physical performance coach Nick Allamby.
It’s unclear exactly what Taylor’s role will be at the club. He comes in just days after John Potter left the club to join former boss Jack Ross at Hibs.
